CSS Presents Cyber Security Survey Results

A National Digital Identity Insights Survey

In Q4 2016, CSS Research surveyed information security professionals on their current and anticipated public key infrastructure (PKI) usage, as well as PKI challenges and plans for 2017.

CSS Research surveyed 105 respondents who manage cyber security tools in an evolving digital authentication landscape nationally.

Key Findings

The 2016 CSS Research national survey revealed the following key findings:

  • 32% of organizations are using PKI for between 1-3 use cases.
  • 61% of businesses consider WiFi to be the most critical use case for PKI. IoT data encryption was considered critical by only 8% of businesses.
  • The majority of organizations are managing between 1-99 digital certificates internally on average.
  • 40% of security professionals are very confident in the health of their PKI, while 42% are moderately confident.
  • 64% of survey respondents reported that new enterprise applications and/or IoT use cases are the driving factors for increased PKI usage in 2017.
  • Over half of businesses will be moving internal applications to the cloud this year.
  • Cyber security is the top security interest of organizations for 2017.
