Job Description

Certified Security Solutions, Inc. (CSS) is seeking an experienced product manager to guide the design, development, and support of features within our information security products from our corporate headquarters in Independence, Ohio. The successful candidate will be responsible for our products from strategy to execution, working with engineers, sales, marketing, and our clients to help build the best products possible.


Develop multi-year product portfolio and life cycle plan, drive product strategies and tactics for designated product categories in accordance with target product life cycle, corporate revenue, profit, and return on investment objectives.

Prepare product requirement documents and the associated business cases.  Present to the executive team to secure required management approvals for product development proposals and projects.

Ensure that all products have the proper foundation positioning for the target markets and are priced, promoted, supported, maintained and administered.

Monitor, evaluate, and define tactical responses to competitive threats and ensure that any strategic threats are actively communicated to executive management.

Develop, prepare, and manage the delivery of all product positioning and strategic selling information through a Product Marketing Plan.

Define, prepare, and manage the delivery of all product support information including but not limited to product sales literature, services, and other product support documentation, sales and technical support training materials, etc.

Ensure that all product launch and end of life activities are coordinated effectively with customers and strategic and channel partners with appropriate messaging on a global basis.

Provide timely, accurate, and proactive product information to sales personnel, strategic and channel partners.

Drive product innovation through the development of extensive collaboration with customers, marketing, sales teams, initiatives, and prospects on a worldwide basis.

Define differentiated and innovative capabilities for our products through their unique attributes (Product Life Cycle Management).

Ensure a constant flow of valuable new product ideas in the pipeline with the engineering team throughout the product development process to maximize effectiveness; meet all project and product objectives.

Lead cross-functional Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) team including key operational departments (Development, Sales, Support, Operations, Marketing, etc.) required to launch new products, services, and enhancements.

Ensure that all assigned products are developed within CSS’ product development process and are on schedule, within budget, and meet functional and market performance specifications.

Manage Voice of the Client (VoC) and/or Voice of Industry (VoI) initiatives, including client or industry advisory boards to gather information related to product launch, enhancements, pricing, positioning, 


To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additionally, the following qualifications are critical to the success in this position:

  • Education: BS engineering or computer science; an MBA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated use and understanding of: Software product management, software development, and quality management process (e.g. Six Sigma), initiative, creative problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills and understanding of: Principles of New Product Development (NPD), New Product Introductions (NPI), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication (written and oral) skills and demonstrated ability to serve as a product expert supporting a complex and protracted sales process.


Five or more years of expanding responsibility managing software products and platforms (acceptable prior job descriptions include Associate Product Manager; Assistant Product Manager, Product Manager, Advanced Technology Manager or Product Engineering Manager) in a Business-to-Business (B2B) environment.

Prior experience in Enterprise security software and with any of the following certifications: New Product Development (NPDP), Project Management Skills (PMP), or Pragmatic Marketing.


There is occasional travel to off-site meetings and tradeshows.


You must reside within daily commuting distance of our Independence, OH office.


Salary will be commensurate with experience.
